Bernice Merritt Box
This pine hand-dovetailed box, with a fine brass English lock, is a copy of a box that was discovered 30 years ago in the possession of an elderly lady in Rochester, New York. It is circa very early 19th century. The stenciling is extremely high end. The box was probably a one of a kind piece to commemorate a special occasion. Each of the five box sides displays a completely different design. Over 100 stencils were required to complete the bronze powder designs. Approximate size: 10 x 16 x 8 inches high.
